Invoices
Banking & reconciliation
Import a bank statement (CSV) and match payments received to your invoices. The file is read on this device — nothing is uploaded. Currency and date format follow your practice country (set in Business Identity).
Payments received
Still outstanding
No statement imported yet. Export a CSV from your online banking, then import it here.
Which banks work?
Most CSV exports work automatically, including Monzo, Starling, Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Halifax, NatWest, Santander, Nationwide, Revolut (UK) and Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, Capital One, Amex (US). If a layout isn't recognised, you'll be asked to point us at the date, description and amount columns. Reconciliation matches by amount and a name in the payment reference — always confirm each match before marking an invoice paid.
Auto-match rules
Income & tax year
UK tax year runs 6 April – 5 April. Received counts income when you were paid (cash basis); Invoiced counts it when you raised the invoice (traditional/accruals basis). Most sole traders use the cash basis. This covers invoices created here only — it doesn’t include expenses or any income you haven’t invoiced in the app — so it’s a starting point for you and your accountant, not tax advice.
Backup & restore
Your data lives only on this device. Export regularly and keep the file in your own cloud (e.g. Google Drive). Restoring replaces everything on this device.
The export is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using the passphrase that opens this app — you type it when you export. That passphrase is the only thing that opens the file, and it opens it on any device, which is what makes it a real backup. Keep it somewhere safe and separate from the file: anyone holding both can read everything in it.
Your licence key is not in the file — it belongs to this device, not to your records. Find it under Licence below, or in the receipt email for any payment. Backing up and restoring work whatever your licence says.
Import from WriteUpp
Bring your client list and appointment history across from a WriteUpp export. Nothing is imported until you confirm the preview. The files are read on this device — nothing is uploaded.
No files chosen yet.
Import a client file (.zip)
Import everything for one client — their notes, forms and appointments — from the .zip you downloaded from WriteUpp. If this client isn't in Fallowing yet, they'll be created for you.
No file chosen yet.
Availability
Your usual working days and hours. The diary uses this to guide bookings.
Session types & rates
Used when booking a session — picking a type sets the fee and the invoice description (e.g. EMDR, person-centred, missed appointment <24h).
Data encryption
Encrypt every record on this device with a passphrase, using standard AES-256-GCM. You'll enter it to open the app, and to take or restore a backup. Three ordinary words beat one clever word — they are far harder to guess and far easier to remember.
There is no recovery. If you forget it, the data on this device and every backup you have taken are permanently unreadable. Nobody can recover them.

Data on this device is encrypted.
Changing it re-encrypts everything on this device, and you must enter the current one first. Backups you have already taken still open with the passphrase that was set when you took them — those files have left this device and nothing here can change them.
Nothing can open this device without it. Resetting erases everything here and starts again — restore a backup afterwards if you have one, and you will need the passphrase that was set when you took it.
Licence
Checking…
Your key is not in your backups — it belongs to this device, not to your records. Copy it somewhere safe while this device works; it is also in the receipt email for every payment.
Your own video server optional
You don't need to do anything here. Remote sessions use Fallowing's built-in video service automatically — it's included in your licence, with nothing to set up. Each appointment still gets its own private room, and your client records never pass through it.
This box is only for two situations: if you'd rather run your own private video server, or as a fallback if Fallowing's video service is ever briefly unavailable. Leave it empty to use the built-in service. In-person sessions don't use video at all.
Running your own server
If you run your own Jitsi server, paste its web address (for example https://video.yourpractice.com) below and press Save, then Test to open it in a new tab. You enter it once on each device you use. Rooms are still created automatically, one per appointment — you only provide the address, never a room.
